• Cognac Classic Crawl, five cocktails in five downtown bars.
  Fleur de Lis at the redbird, my favorite.
  Cocktails United at the Broken Shaker. Not my kind of cocktail, but a great bar, open air on the roof of an 8th Street hotel with a very nice collection of cacti and succulents.
  Skip James at The Varnish. Very nice cocktail with a beautiful stamped ice cube. They call it a “large ice block.”
  Peacock at Bar Clacson. Not a bad cocktail, most proletarian bar, only one with a tv. Watched the second inning of World Series game 1 with a small group of Dodger fans.
  Sidecar at Otium. Most beautiful cocktail.And for an encore, my own creation, The Justin Turner.
• 21 COLLECTIONS. Interesting exhibition of unusual collections – candy wrappers, typewriters, gay bar matchboxes, walnuts and more – at the Central Library.
• About town, garden with flowers and a cat, Halloween.
